With regards to Sky's account of her happily sleeping in my bed, here is what actually happened:

At 6am in the morning, I jolted up from the table at McDonald's, hearing a loud cough from above my head. I rubbed my eyes and tried to recall what happened. My face was sore from sleeping on my laptop. I rubbed my cheek and saw that mess still sprawled on the table in front of me. For a moment, I thought she was going to wake up because she opened her eyes. Then she slurred something like she needed more Coke, and went back to sleep.

The breakfast crowd will be coming in soon, I realised. Just as I was about to shake her into consciousness, an all-too-familiar figure appeared. Oh mother, I thought.

"YOU DIDN'T COME HOME ALL NIGHT!"

"Yes, I realised, mother."

"Who is this? What is she doing here?"

At this point, the girl reached up and hit me squarely on the nose before muttering something that sounded like, "Let's go home."

My mother's eyes never got any wider. "Go home! Go HOME?! She wants to come to our house?!"

I sighed, packed up and shoved my laptop into my mother's empty grocery basket. Shopping will have to wait. Then I lifted the girl's right arm, draped it over my shoulders and helped her into a standing position. "What the hell you think you're doing?" hissed my mother, looking around frantically to see if anyone else was watching. There were few people around, thankfully.

"We get her home and as soon as she is sober, we throw her out, ok?"

"You want to bring this... this THING home? We don't even know her!"

I sighed, and started towards the door with her stumbling beside me. Mother huffed and puffed and hurriedly opened the door for us. We half-dragged the girl into the lift, in which another round of scolding ensued. Then we reached home and Mother didn't want her on the couch, because she didn't want the cushions dirtied. "What are we going to do with her now?" she kept nagging.

I sighed and led the girl to my room. Looking at the state of my bed, I doubt she'll like it when she wakes up. The sheets smell freshly cleaned, yes, but I clipped my toenails on them and I kind of forgot to sweep them off. Oh I pick my nose in my sleep and I eat on my bed and sometimes at night, I feel an ant or two crawling up my leg...

Well, she'll have to bear with it, I thought. Laying her down, I turned to see my mother frowning in disapproval. She ushered me out of the room for another lecture.
